A “chak·ra” Inspired Creative Process

ˈCHäkrə/

noun: chakra; plural noun: chakras

  1. (in Indian thought) each of the centers of spiritual power in the human body, usually considered to be seven in number.

Origin

from Sanskrit cakra ‘wheel or circle,’ from an Indo-European base meaning ‘turn,’ shared by wheel.

In my own work, I incorporate what I have learned about chakras and basic design principles of balance, contrast, harmony, and color theory. My favorite materials are acrylic paint + paper + canvas. I refer to text, magazines like, the Smithsonian and love using handmade eco-freindly papers made by a women's collective in Nepal in my work.

I have developed a two hour step by step workshop with all supplies included. You will crate your own unique art work as the basis for learning about the sacred chakra symbols. Your personal intention and use of color is encouraged. You can always use one of my pieces for inspiration.

Below is a collection based purely on the chakra energy studies, using shapes, petals, symbols, color, traditions and movement. The action of painting, cutting and pasting and even writing creates a shifts in the chakra system. This mental, emotional and physical creative process releases old energy in order to pave a new paths leading to personal and spiritual growth.
